On Monday, January 16, we presented our project "Inclusion of the MSEs in the Sustainable Tourism Supply Chain of Miches" at the 13th UNWTO Awards. Our program has been nominated in the 'Innovation in Non-Governmental Organizations' category of these awards that are held during the 37th International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid, Spain.

Fundación Tropicalia’s Executive Director, Sofía Perazzo, was responsible for explaining the characteristics of the project to the public and showing the progress achieved since we started implementing it in 2013 with the IDB/MIF. In addition, the presentation has been a magnificent opportunity to present Miches before a forum with experts in tourism from around the world.

Later, Sofia participated in a conversation with leaders of sustainable tourism projects in India and Jordan. Together, they have reflected on the links between tourism development and the agricultural and entrepreneurial development of a community and the need to explore ways that allow local populations to benefit more from tourism projects around them; among other topics.

The winning institutions will be announced next Wednesday, January 18. Follow us on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to stay informed.
